An explanation with the match
On 21 February 1932 AAC secured the central field of the Sintelbaan at Olympiaplein for an Amsterdam–Haarlem rugby exhibition. A preview in Het Volk said visitors would receive an explanation of the game.
The rugby section was a little over a year old at the time. The source establishes use of the Sintelbaan that day, not a permanent tenancy.
A German side on Christmas Day
On 25 December 1932 AAC hosted Rapid ’04 Düsseldorf at the Sintelbaan. AAC lost 3–9. The report in the Algemeen Handelsblad adds an international fixture to the club’s early Olympiaplein record.
Six clubs left
Two days later, on 27 December 1932, a contemporary report counted AAC among the six clubs affiliated with the newly re-established Nederlandse Rugby Bond. Organised rugby in the Netherlands amounted to little more than those six names at the time.
Printed rules
A preview of 15 October 1933 explicitly describes AAC distributing abbreviated rules at its home matches. On the same day AAC beat a combined Hilversum and Drafna side 14–9.
AAC assumed its spectators did not know the game, and printed the rules for them.
National Rugby Day, 1934
On 4 March 1934 a national Rugby Day at the Sintelbaan brought together clubs from Amsterdam, Delft, Utrecht, Haarlem, The Hague, Eindhoven and ’t Gooi.
Stadsarchief Amsterdam holds the original lithographic poster under accession 10109/149. The poster proves the advertised programme; it says nothing about attendance or results.
