What began in 1972 with 24 announced entrants is now one of the largest sevens festivals in Europe: more than a hundred men’s, women’s and veterans’ sides across two days, with the closing rounds played out on the National Rugby Centre’s main pitch. Women entered the main tournament in 2004, after AAC’s women had already organised a separate international Sevens for more than a decade.
The 2026 edition was held on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June at Sportpark De Eendracht. The tournament still holds to the line set in 1972: top rugby in a relaxed atmosphere.
Tournament updates are on the Sevens’ own site, amsterdamrugby7s.com. The organisers will publish 2027 entry and schedule details there.
Update, July 2026: the 2026 tournament ran on 6 and 7 June. The 2027 edition is set for the weekend of 5 and 6 June. The build crew started more than a week before the gates opened, first constructing the floor and then dressing the whole sports park over the course of the week — the club’s thanks go to them and to everyone on the VIP deck, the bar, first aid and match officials.
